2 Frozen Embryos

While eating lunch today, Joseph and I got a phone call from Rachel IVF.  They told us that we have 2 embryos that meet the criteria to be frozen and used at a later date.

Remember, we began with ten eggs and then that became 6 embryos and on day 3, two were transferred back into me.

Dr. Lee said they would wait until day 5 to check the size and various other factors of the remaining 4 embryos to see if they would be good enough to freeze.  Now we have 2 to freeze.  :-)

Rachel IVF Cost:
We were given an estimated price of W460,000 (roughly $460.00USD) for a 3 year freeze and today we were told the exact price would be W508,000 ($508.00USD) for these 2 embryos for a three year freeze.

American Average Cost:
I tried to compare this to the American average for embryo freezing and could not find an exact number anywhere, but it is considerably more expensive.

At one place it there was a $300.00 yearly fee plus $3,000.00 charge at the beginning plus whatever the actual cost is for however many embryos a couple or person is having frozen.  Holy crap. How do people afford that?

Our price is laughable in comparison and much more affordable.

We are happy we have some to freeze because next time I will not have to do all of the steps for IVF.
