When Jasper was born it caused my left leg veins to produce thrombolitis. Dr. Oh was quite concerned it could be DVT so she set things up for a leg sonogram with the vein specialist.
I was diagnosed with superficial vein thrombolitis and I need surgery. I was supposed to wait until May but it got worse so the surgery was scheduled for March 27th.
Mom was here and so she went to Seoul with me and Joseph stayed in Daejeon. Mandy and Brian took turns watching Jasper for the 2 days I was gone while Joseph was at work.
March 26, Mom and I had lunch at the Hilton and then went to the hospital. I had another sonogram where they wrote on my leg where to perform the surgery.
Mom and I then went to the 16th floor to check in and were told there were not any 6 person rooms available. We ended up with a 2 person room at 200$ a night instead of 10$ a night. Yikes.
Tried really hard to get a 6 person room to no avail.

The next morning was the surgery so mom and I settled in and watched some TV and slept. 5am came and the nurses began getting me ready for my 8am surgery time.
I opted to be put to sleep instead of a spinal which irritated some of the nurses and interns for some reason.
I was the first person to be operated on that day and I woke up to mom in recovery.
Turns out the EVLA surgery was not possible because my bloot clots were too large for the laser so the doctor stripped the vein instead.
I have had no pain except when I push or poke the 2 incisions and I will need to wear compression stockings for years on my left leg. UPDATE: After my checkup a few weeks after surgery the doctor said I didn't need the stocking any longer unless flying.
The surgery went perfectly with a 5% recurrence rate in my lifetime.
In a month from surgery I will have a follow up with the vein surgeon in addition to my last appointment with Dr. Oh to retest my blood sugar.
