Daycare

Whew.
Jasper began daycare this week.
It was a mission getting him in this particular place but well worth it so far.
A couple of months ago Joseph and I went to see this place as about 10 Woosong staff take their children there and have had positive things to say about it.

We met and spoke with the owners. A nice couple. Turns out our good friend's sister in law works there and is the translator for foreigners. Perfect. Good omens all around so far.  We told them when we needed Jasper to start and all was well. Asked to register him and were told no worries, just come when you need him to. Strange, but okay.
Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. I messaged my friends sister in law and she said there was no spot for Jasper and he couldn't come. No bueno. Joseph and I got all dressed up and walked over there. Koreans are a stickler for first impressions and 'whoever is loudest wins.'  They also enjoy brands and bling.
We march over there with Jasper and ask to speak with the owners.  We are all smiles and ask to register him. The owner says it isnt possible. I say we don't understand and explain and remind when we were there last. She says only 3 babies are allowed in each class but no more than 5 per the law and she would need to permission of the other 3 parents to allow him to come. I said please get their permission we will wait.  She backtracked and said she needed two weeks.  I asked her if she knew my position at my job and I explained that I am an administrator at Woosong and have ample influence with my coworkers that take their children to this daycare. It is a shame of Jasper couldnt be a part of the same group. She said he could start.  We paid for the last 2 weeks of August as a precaution and things are good so far.  He is like some kind of VIP. The owners always say good morning when I bring him and ask how he is.
Jasper is the only Caucasian baby in the place. It is a large 5 story building and many children attend from as young as 3 months to 7 years of age. Age 8 is when school begins for children here.
There are 3 students, including Jasper, and the little girl was born the day after he was.  The other boy is less than a year old but older than 6 months.  Jasper's class is for babies under 1 year of age.
The only thing that really makes us unhappy is they are not following his nap schedule.  This kid needs to sleep at least 3 hours during the day or he wont sleep at night. So far he only sleeps about 30 or 40 minutes at daycare. WHAT?! When they have him all day they will have to follow his naptime schedule or they can come take care of him in the middle of the night. Mommy and daddy need their sleep. Munchkin has been sleeping from 7pm-6/7am since he was 3 months old. Daycare shouldn't ruin that.
The issue is they think he is cute. They look at him all the time and the first time he opens his eyes they assume nap time is over and let him up. NO bueno.
I say the same thing to his teacher each morning about his nap. Maybe it will sink in when he is there all day and screams when they dont let him sleep because he is over tired. How hard is it to follow what works for him?
Anyway, the place is wonderful other than naps.
